Real Italian Sauce
Ingredients12 ounces canned tomato paste 2 cups water 1 can V-8 juice - (12 oz) 1 tablespoon minced onion 1 tablespoon wine vinegar 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano 1/2 teaspoon dried basil 1 pinch crushed red pepper
MethodCombine all ingredients in a medium pot. Simmer gently for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. This sauce keeps well in refrigerator or may be frozen in 1-cup containers and used as needed.
This recipe yields 3 1/2 cups. Serving size: 1/2 cup.
